In the Classroom

Jon doesn’t arrive at an institution with a rehearsed presentation.
He arrives with a career and he puts all of it in the room.

Every masterclass, ensemble session, and panel discussion is built around the students in front of him. Their level, their questions, their blind spots. His standard in the classroom is the same as his standard on the bandstand. Students feel that immediately.

No two engagements are the same. That’s by design.

More than a decade of artist residencies. Over 1,000 students reached across the United States, Europe, and beyond.

Jon works across formats depending on what the program needs:

  • One-on-one private instruction

  • Small and large ensemble direction

  • Improvisation and composition masterclasses

  • Extended saxophone technique clinics

  • Panel discussions on music, creativity, and career

  • Live performance with his quartet

  • Performance film screening and discussion

No single type of institution owns this kind of access.
